Top 6 Picks of September

Inspired by Here Comes the Sun's Top 6 Picks entry, I thought why not keep a monthly log of the things I'm trending towards. I hope to do these at the end of every month, so things will change seasonally and with my mood of course.

1) The Leaning Bookshelf from The Container Store. I just purchased one of these after having talked about getting one for the last three years, and I honestly couldn't be happier. It's the perfect shelf if you're looking for extra storage in a smaller space. Plus it's chic, easy to assemble, and matches my bed and bookshelf. Did I forget to mention that it's on sale??

2) Chicago Public Library Card. With a brand new bookshelf comes space for more books! Being a recent college grad my love affair with books has only just begun - but not being enrolled in a university left me without a library card (how I miss ishare and ILL). I love to read, I finally have the time to do it, and I don't feel like breaking the bank. I just renewed my CPL Card, and I have already finished a fantastic book "In Cold Blood". If you don't have a library card, get one! It's  free!

3) Gap's Suede Tote in Mardi Gras Gold. I saw this bag at Gap back in August and instantly fell in love. A chic tote in a gorgeous shade of yellow, how could I say no? As a treat to myself for landing this job back at AIC, I thought why not? And I love love love this bag.

4) Lush Cosmetic's Honey Trap Lip Balm. I have been an advocate of Lush Cosmetics since I first stopped by one of their locations in London a decade ago. A forever fan of their bath bombs and massage bars, I couldn't resist their lip balms. While Lush isn't always the best band to shop at on a budget, I like knowing that their products are hand made and homemade from the heart. And I am addicted to this Honey Trap Lip Balm, a $6.95 splurge that gets me through the fall season.

5) 5010 Frames by Modo. About two weeks ago I purchased a new pair of specs inspired by two of my favorite people: Buddy Holly & Ira Glass. I love these frames. They always manage to bring my look together whether it's museum chic or hanging around the house assembling bookshelves with my mom. They were the perfect downgrade from the $1000 handmade antique wooden frames I initially had my eye on. Pun intended.

6) Season One of The OC. "Welcome to the OC, Bitch." Finishing school, moving back home, being far away from all of my friends, starting a job, unpacking, being an adult - these are some of the many changes I have gone through in the last few months, and to give myself some semblance of normalcy, I've decided to re-watch all four seasons of The OC. I know, it makes no sense - but I love this show and these characters make me feel like everything is okay.

So there you have it, my Top 6 Picks of September and don't hesitate to let me know what your Top 6 are. Things have been crazy around these parts, hence the lack of updates BUT I am sitting near a computer all day with occasional lulls of downtown which warrants posts such as these.

  1. I am totally lusting after the OC too! I think its the same issue you're having, being slightly in flux with life and needing some comfort, something you know is always good. Just as there is comfort food, there is comfort TV and that show is definitely one of them. I think what gets me everytime is how melodramatic Ryan & Marissa are (how much did Marissa go through in season 1!? I'm surprised she stuck around until season 3) and Seth Cohen, always Seth Cohen.

that tote is amazing! I want one! the color is irresistible
